Presenter: Rebel Black
No matter where you are in Australia, there will be times when your patch is exposed to hot and dry weather. For some growers it may be a few days here and there, for others it can be a year round reality. If you can grow a thriving food garden in arid inland Australia, you can grow a garden anywhere. For our January workshop, we’re joined by Lightning Ridge based grower Rebel Black, who will share her story about how she has greened her little patch of desert and share strategies for building water wise, climate resilient gardens no matter where in Australia you grow.
Rebel Black is a passionate educator, facilitator, and farmer leading the Greening the Outback project in Lightning Ridge. Blending syntropic agroforestry principles with deep local knowledge, she teaches how to regenerate semi-arid landscapes for abundance and resilience. Through her work with social enterprise The Hungry Spirit, Rebel inspires communities to grow food, restore ecosystems, and reconnect with nature’s intelligence.
